Launch of the National Information Platform for Nutrition in Uganda
On March 15th the National Information Platform for Nutrition Uganda was launched during the Second Uganda National Nutrition Forum. The Platform will build the capacity of staff in the Office of the Prime Minister, the Uganda Bureau of Statistics and collaborating ministries to use evidence and data to develop policies and programmes to improve human nutrition. UNICEF will provide technical support for data analysis. “I hope that through the National Information Platform for Nutrition, we will start looking at nutrition differently and in an innovative way” said EU Ambassador Attilio Pacifici, adding that “with this new initiative and other programmes such as the ‘Development Initiative for Northern Uganda’ (DINU), the EU will contribute considerably to achieve the objectives of the Second Uganda National Nutrition Forum, to prevent chronic malnutrition and to improve the health and nutrition of the next generation of Ugandan citizens”.
