Under the theme of “Communication for informed decision making”, the main objective of the 5th Annual Global Gathering – which took place from 6–8 June in Brussels – was to strengthen platforms’ capacity to communicate effectively with decision-makers. The sessions focused on the country platforms’ sustainability plans, effective communication for decision-making, while avoiding the reinforcement of gender-biases, and discussing the results of the NIPN Contribution Study. Under the theme "Leveraging Sustainable Financing for Multisectoral Approaches: Accelerating Universal Access to Safe, Affordable and Sustainable Diets", the 17th edition of the ECOWAS/West African Health Organization Nutrition Forum took place in Abuja, Nigeria.
During the event, C4N-NIPN played a key role in moderating two panels on the "Accountability in Nutrition Mediated by Data Quality as a Guarantee for Better Financing" and the "Commitment of Financial Institutions and Donors to Prioritize their Investments in Nutrition across West Africa" with the participation of the World Bank, USAID, Aliko DANGOTE Foundation and IFNA.
Furthermore, a stand was set up to showcase PNIN Niger products and was visited by the Minister of Health of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Osagie Ehanire. Further information from the event HERE.

In Côte d‘Ivoire, the Government engaged with the NIPN initiative to strengthen the monitoring of the National Multisectoral Plan of Action on Nutrition and provide critical contextualised, multi-sectoral and robust information to policy makers.
This new case study describes how, concretely, the NIPN platform contributed to improving the M&E of the national action plan on nutrition and the lessons learned along the way. Read the full report HERE.

The Emergency Nutrition Network Field Exchange December 2022 issue carries two articles on NIPN:
- an article (p.12) providing an overview of the NIPN initiative, the progress made, and lessons learnt to date from nine NIPN countries; and
- an article (p.26) on the support from NIPN to create a multi-sector information system in Côte d’Ivoire.
To quote from the ENN introduction: ‘Developing an effective monitoring and evaluation system for multisector nutrition responses is formidable – it takes time, resources and dedication, alongside strong coordination and, above all, collaboration’. The full issue can be downloaded HERE.

In line with the “2030 Agenda for SDG 2: End hunger, achieve food security, improved nutrition, and promotion of sustainable agriculture”, the National Information Platforms for Nutrition (NIPN) has the pleasure to present the 4th Global Gathering taking place from 4-6 October 2022. This year the meeting will be in a hybrid format and will take place simultaneously in Grand Bassam, Côte d’Ivoire, and Mombasa, Kenya. The meeting theme will be “Accelerating for results” aiming to take a step forward in the transition towards the forthcoming NIPN phase II and building on achievements from phase I.
