The event highlighted the upcoming N4G Paris summit as a pivotal opportunity to establish the nutrition information systems needed to improve nutrition outcomes. The discussion reinforced the importance of sustained collaboration and investment to strengthen systems that support evidence-based decision-making in nutrition.
The event concluded with remarks from Laura Barrington, who highlighted the critical importance of investing in data and information systems to enable evidence-based decision-making and accountability for nutrition. She emphasized that scaling up nutrition interventions offers immense economic benefits, citing a $23 return on every $1 invested, while the cost of inaction remains high. Laura also commended Ethiopia’s progress on its dashboards, capacity building, and the UNISE platform, which demonstrates how robust systems can drive impact.
As we approach the N4G Paris 2025, Laura underscored the need to build on the momentum established at N4G Tokyo and called for a stronger commitment to allocating at least 5% of total nutrition funding to strengthening data systems. Her closing message was clear: data works for nutrition when investments are made.
