CÔTE D'IVOIRE
AT A GLANCE

Côte d’Ivoire has a population of 31.1 million and a population growth rate of 2.45%. 23.4% of children under five are stunted, and the country also faces significant issues with acute malnutrition. Despite progress in reducing wasting rates, 8.1% of children under five are still affected. Anaemia is widespread, and rates of overweight and obesity are rising among adolescents and adults. In the most affected regions, malnutrition is attributed to multiple factors: poorly diversified diets, particularly among children; poor health environments; limited access to health services; low educational attainment among adolescent girls; and weakened purchasing power among vulnerable populations. Côte d’Ivoire is ranked 156th out of 192 countries in the UNDP HDR Gender Inequality Index 2023-2024.
