Data processing is the responsibility of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. GIZ processes personal data exclusively in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the German Federal Data Protection Act (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz, BDSG).
Personal data are, for example, name, address, email addresses and user behaviour. GIZ only processes personal data to the extent necessary. Which data is required and processed for which purpose and on what basis is largely determined by the type of service you use or the purpose for which the data is required.
When visiting the NIPN website, the browser used automatically transmits data that is saved in a log file. GIZ processes only the data that is technically required in order to display the website correctly and to ensure its stability and security. Each time the website is accessed, the data stored includes, but is not limited to, the page that is viewed, the IP address of the accessing device, the page from which the user was redirected, as well as the date and time of access.
Your rights in terms of data protection are reproduced here: Chapter 3 – Rights of the data subject - General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (dsgvo-gesetz.de)
If you have questions specifically about how your data are protected, please contact GIZ’s data protection officer Ms Claudia Eberhardt at: datenschutzbeauftragter@giz.de.
Privacy
A cookie is a small text file that a website saves on your computer or mobile device when you visit the site. It enables the website to remember your actions and preferences (such as login, language, font size and other display preferences) over a period of time, so you don’t have to keep re-entering them whenever you come back to the site or browse from one page to another.
This site uses Matomo to analyse user behaviour. Cookies collect information about user behaviour on the site, including the abbreviated IP address of the device being used, and send it to the server. The server anonymises the information and stores it for the purpose of analysing user behaviour. The state of current technology ensures that once information has been anonymised, it can no longer be traced back to the originating device or connection. Information produced by cookies is shared only with the internally operated server. It is never shared with third parties. Data is processed on the basis of Article 6 (1 f) of the GDPR for the purpose of pursuing the controller’s legitimate interests, in this case to improve the website. You have the right to object to the processing of your user data for the purpose of user behaviour analysis. The link below gives you an opportunity to deactivate collection of your user data:
Opt-out cookie: an opt-out cookie is stored on your device to prevent your user data from being collected when you visit this site. For the cookie to be effective, it must be stored on every device you use to visit the site. As the cookie is stored in the browser (the program used to access websites), it must be stored on each browser if you use more than one browser per device (e.g. Internet Explorer, Chrome or Mozilla Firefox). You should also note that if you delete all cookies, you will also delete the opt-out cookie and will have to reinstall it.
This website uses Matomo for statistics on usage of the webpages. Matomo collects the following information:
• user IP address in anonymised form
• a user ID name in anonymised form (such as ‘8cf45b144b6745e3‘)
• date and time of the visit
• title of the page being viewed (page title)
• URL of the page being viewed (page URL)
• URL of the page that was viewed prior to the current page (referrer URL)
• screen resolution being used
• time in local user’s timezone
• files that were clicked and downloaded (download)
• links to an outside domain that were clicked (outlink)
• pages generation time (the time it takes for webpages to be generated by the webserver and then downloaded by the user: page speed)
• location of the user: country, region, city, approximate latitude and longitude
• main language of the browser being used
• user agent of the browser being used.
The information from Matomo cookies is stored in anonymised fashion for up to six months. Matomo does not use a ‘fingerprint’ to track visitors, but uses the privacy-friendly measures to protect user privacy: the config_id which groups different actions into “visits” during a short window of up to 24-hours.
