Under the theme of ’Communication for informed decision-making’, the main objective of the 5th Annual Global Gathering from 6-8 June in Brussels was to strengthen the platforms’ capacity to communicate effectively with decision-makers. This year, the sessions concerned effective communication for decision-making and avoiding reinforcement of gender bias in communication, as well as the country platforms’ sustainability plans and a presentation of the preliminary findings of the NIPN Contribution Study. With the theme “Accelerating for results”, the main aim of the 4th NIPN Global Gathering was to move forward the process towards NIPN Phase II, while building on the achievements of NIPN Phase I. The 4th Global Gathering took place from 4-6 October 2022, in a hybrid format with meetings held simultaneously in Grand Bassam, Côte d’Ivoire, and Mombasa, Kenya. The Nutrition for Growth Summit (N4G) is a global pledging event to drive action toward ending malnutrition. In November 2021, NIPN presented in a N4G side-event organized by the Nutrition Data Partners Group entitled “Improving Nutrition through Accountability and Data Systems”, showcasing NIPN Niger as an example. The decentralisation experience of Guatemala was also featured during the session. The goal of this event was to illustrate important data themes through examples and good practices by country governments. Aligning country platforms under common goals and capitalising experience and knowledge across countries – this was the overall objective of the 3rd NIPN Global Gathering virtually hosted by the C4N-NIPN Global Support in March 2021. The launch video with the inspirational speeches of the keynote speakers, Marjeta Jager (DDG of the EC DG INTPA), Martin Hoppe (Head of Division Food and Nutrition Security, BMZ) and Gerda Verburg (SUN Movement Coordinator and UN Assistant Secretary General), as well as all session videos, presentations and references can now be found online here.
NIPN teams from Burkina Faso, Niger & Côte d’Ivoire presented their work and exchanged their experience with partners from West Africa during the Nutrition Data Forum held in Dakar 11th and 12th of February 2020. C4N NIPN team has responded to the call for partnership launched by Transform Nutrition with IFRPI, Datadent, Countdown to 2030, UNICEF, USAID, Alive & Thrive, CEDEAO, WHO, EU, GIZ. Lots of experience sharing across the data value chain, from data collection, management, analysis, communication to decision making.
