The Nutrition for Growth (N4G) online event ‘Improving nutrition through accountability and data systems’ will take place on November 17 (08:00 to 09:30 am US EST / 14:00 pm to 15:30 CET). The event will focus on providing an overview of potential data commitments recommended by the Nutrition Data Partners Group, a group of global development partners committed to strengthening nutrition-relevant data. The aim of the session is to motivate more countries to consider formulating data-related commitments, and shape bold SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely) commitments to improve nutrition data. Important data themes will be illustrated through short examples and good practices by country governments. The experience of the NIPN platform of Niger will be presented under the 3rd theme, with the intervention of the EU Ambassador to Niger and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Planning of Niger. Please find more useful information about the conference HERE, or register HERE.
The Nutrition Data Partner Group has released a brief aiming at advising governments, donors and development partners on the formulation of data-specific commitment for the Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Summit which will take place in Tokyo at the end of the year, 7-8 December. Sample commitments that can be adapted to country contexts can also be found in the short paper: “investing in information platforms at central or decentralized level to support decision making” is one of them. The full document can be accessed HERE.
Aligning country platforms under common goals and capitalising experience and knowledge across countries – this was the overall objective of the 3rd NIPN Global Gathering virtually hosted by the C4N-NIPN Global Support in March 2021. As most countries have implemented fully or partially a NIPN operational cycle, the NIPN Global Gathering represented an opportunity to take stock and share experiences on NIPN successes and limitations in strengthening multisectoral national governance for nutrition. If you missed the opportunity to take part in the NIPN Global Gathering you can now find all materials online.
The NIPN Global Support has published a brief with insights from the design, set-up and early implementation of highly complex multisectoral collaboration of NIPNs in nine different country and institutional contexts. It outlines in detail lessons learnt for the design and set-up of platforms to help overcome challenges, it particularly highlights conditions for successful collaboration: leadership, alignment of objectives, roles and responsibilities, equal power balance and adequate capacities. The NIPN Lessons Learned brief can be accessed on the NIPN website resources page.
